Sant'Anselmo Grillo 2025 DOC

This grape was invented. In the 1800s, Sicilians crossed two varieties to create the perfect grape for Marsala and accidentally made one of Italy's great dry whites.
This is Grillo, from Tenute dello Jato in western Sicily. It's a crossing of Catarratto and Zibibbo, bred to survive Sicilian heat while keeping its freshness which is exactly what makes it brilliant today.
In the glass: citrus, white peach, and that unmistakable whiff of Mediterranean herbs , like the Sicilian hillside got bottled along with the grapes. Crisp, vibrant, bone-dry. Grillo was born for fortified wine and reinvented itself as Sicily's seafood white. If you're in New Zealand, that means one thing: fresh snapper, green-lipped mussels, fish and chips - this wine says yes to all of it.
